My Story…
Hi family and friends,
Did you know:
1. Migraine is the second most disabling condition globally
2. Migraine is most common cause of disability in patients less than 50 years old
3. Migraine is a spectrum disease, some people have a few migraine attacks a year, while others have chronic intractable migraine, a migraine attack that is constant
However, migraine disease is so much more than a headache. A headache can lead to pressure and/or aching throughout your head, but migraine includes other symptoms. I experience nausea, neck pain, light sensitivity, fatigue, allodynia (scalp tenderness, which is why my hair is rarely pulled up now), sinus pressure, as well as other symptoms.
Everyone with migraine is unique, and what treatment works for me, will not work for another. And, sometimes a treatment will stop working after working for a period of time, for no apparent reason. Despite the recent advancements, there is so much more research that is needed in order to come up with a cure for this debilitating disease.
There is a severe shortage of headache specialists in the US with less than one headache specialist for every 85,000 patients in the US. A headache specialist (who can treat over 300+ types of headaches) is often needed as a primary care provider or neurologist has on average 4 hours of headache education in their medical degree.

If you are interested and financially able, please consider making a donation in my name.
Funds go to The Seymour Diamond Fellowship in Headache Medicine and The Diamond Headache Clinic will match the first $15,000 in donations. This will be my new headache center and is one of the top headache centers in the country. I visited the Diamond Headache Center this past March and July, to make sure I felt comfortable with my new headache specialist. This was important to me as I have been dismissed by many healthcare providers in the past, but I felt heard and validated here, and feel it was a great fit.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask!
With love,
Nicole
