My Story…
I have battled with headaches & migraines since I was six years old. I remember being sensitive to light, smells, and sounds, while feeling nauseated or vomiting from the sensitivities. The only relief I had was to bury myself under the blankets in darkness until I would black out from the pain. It was hard for people around me to understand pain they could not see, and I did not know anyone else who experienced migraines at the time. After a rigorous theory testing with neurologists, this is my present day: I have altered my diet to avoid trigger foods as much as possible (which does help the frequency of migraines), and I try to get more sleep. The medicinal regimen that works for me is to have Excedrin, Rizatriptan, Naproxen, and Ondansetron on-hand at all times, depending on the severity of headache to migraine. I hope this information helps at least one person who feels alone suffering from an invisible disability.
